Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (Luke 21:33-36)
Are you prepared for the end of the world? There are tons of books and websites, even television programs, dedicated to preparing for doomsday. From global pandemic to terrorist threats, to natural disasters, to even the zombie apocolypse; many people are busy preparing for what they believe is the inevitable disaster that will all but wipe out mankind. They are hoping that their preparations will give them an edge and allow them to survive.
Still, most people live their lives with little or no thought about the end of their lives, let alone the end of the world. The truth is, most people don’t even know the truth about the end of the world, or so-called Doomsday. Even those who are busy preparing for doomsday are working in vain. Their ideas about the end of the world are skewed by misinformation and false teachings.
However, the end will come one day, and God’s word has foretold some of the things that are to come. In the Old Testament, Daniel was given insight into the end times, and foretold of the world kingdoms and their destruction. Zechariah 14:1-21 gives us a description of the battle for Jerusalem that will end with the establishment of the reign of Christ for a thousand years. Jesus himself gave us a description of some of the judgments to come (Matthew 24:4-42) (Mark 13:5-37).
In the book of Revelation, we are given more detail about the judgments of God upon this earth for the wickedness and disobedience of mankind. The word of God is true, and its prophecies are true, most having been fulfilled (See our page about the fulfilled prophecies concerning Christ).
We know that Jesus is coming back, we just don’t know when. We know that he will call away his church in advance of the time of judgment upon the earth, prior to what most Christians call the Great Tribulation. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18) (1 Corinthians 15:51-58)
So, how do you prepare for this? How do you ensure that you are one of those called away, to escape the doomsday judgment of God for sin; to avoid condemnation to an everlasting Hell?
Jesus himself gives us the answer: Receive God’s gift of Grace, be born again by the Holy Spirit, become a child of God. (John 3:3-8) (John 1:11-13) (Romans 10:9-10) (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
Only by recognizing our need to be saved because of our sin, accepting God’s FREE gift of salvation by grace through faith (You cannot work for it | Ephesians 2:8-9), and being reborn by the Holy Spirit as children of God can we escape the wrath to come and live forever with Jesus. (John 3:36) (Romans 1:17-19) (Revelation 6:12-17) Revelation 11:18).
Don’t buy into the distractions of Satan. Don’t be mislead into believing a lie. We who are saved, the children of God, don’t fear the end of the world. We know that we are prepared, and that our King is returning soon. The prophecies of the Bible indicate that we are living in the last days, although the Bible clearly teaches that no one knows the day or hour when Jesus will return. Christ warned that many false prophets would claim to know the date, and we have seen those false predictions for years. It is no coincidence that the prophecies of the Word of God are accurate, and have been fulfilled just as they were foretold. Jesus still saves sinners if they will just repent and trust in Him to save them. Wrath is coming for some, but eternal life awaits those of us who are trusting in the King Of Kings and Lord Of Lords.
Are you prepared?
